Has your dog or cat passed away? A message of support from the entire Pavllove® team.

Person grieving after the loss of their dog or cat, receiving compassionate support during this difficult time

It is hard to find the words when a companion leaves us.

Today, if you are on this page, it is probably because your dog or cat has just passed away, or you are going through one of the most painful periods of your life.

Above all else, we simply want to tell you this:

The entire Pavllove® team is thinking of you very sincerely.

We know that an animal is never “just an animal.”

It is a member of the family.

An everyday companion.

The one who waited for you behind the door.

The one who made you smile without saying a word.

The one who was there through the good times and the bad.

Today, their absence leaves a huge void.

And this pain is deeply legitimate.

You are not alone

Over the years, we have spoken with thousands of dog and cat owners.

We know that after the departure of a companion, many feel:

  • immense sadness;
  • a feeling of emptiness;
  • guilt;
  • anger;
  • or simply the silence of a house that suddenly seems very different.

All these emotions are normal.

There is no “right way” to grieve.

Our first piece of advice: do not feel guilty

This is undoubtedly the phrase we hear most often.

“Maybe I should have consulted a vet sooner…”

“I should have tried another treatment…”

“What if I had done things differently?”

These questions are natural.

But remember one thing.

Your companion’s life was not defined by their final days.

They primarily remembered:

all your walks,

your vacations,

your games,

your affection,

the meals shared,

the moments spent together.

That is what filled their whole life.

Take the time you need

There is no calendar for grief.

Some people quickly return to their daily routine.

Others will need several weeks or months.

Respect your own pace.

And never let anyone tell you:

“It was just a dog.”

“It was just a cat.”

For you…

it was a member of your family.

Keep talking about them

Do not be afraid to share your memories.

Look at their photos.

Tell stories about the silly things they did.

Smile while thinking back on the happy moments.

Memories don't just revive the pain.

They also allow the love you shared to live on.

If other animals live with you

They too can feel the absence of their companion.

They may:

  • look for the missing animal;
  • be quieter;
  • sleep more;
  • become closer to you.

Continue to offer them attention, walks, games, and a stable routine.

They are also going through a period of adjustment.

Should you adopt another animal?

There is no right answer.

Some feel an early need to open their hearts to a new animal.

Others prefer to wait.

Our only advice is this:

Never try to replace the one you lost.

Every dog.

Every cat.

Every story is unique.

A new animal will never erase the memories.

They will simply write a new page in your life.

Our message

At Pavllove®, we don’t just make food for dogs and cats.

Every day, we interact with owners who deeply love their companions.

We know that behind every order, there is a story.

A puppy awaited with anticipation.

A cat adopted after years of waiting.

A senior dog growing old gently.

A companion who shared the best moments of a family.

When one of them passes away, a whole part of that story stops.

And we could not remain silent.

If you need to talk

Sometimes, the best thing to do is simply to tell your story.

Talk about your companion.

To your family.

To your friends.

Or even write down a few lines about them.

Their name.

Their habits.

Their qualities.

Their little quirks.

Because an animal never truly disappears as long as they live on in the memories of those who loved them.
